The Climate Action Fund will support communities across the UK to take action on climate change. These communities will demonstrate what is possible when people take the lead in tackling climate change. With National Lottery funding, they will work together, share their learning and be active participants in a broader movement of change.

The Wind Farm Community Funds initiative was established by ESB Group and is managed by Groundwork Northern Ireland. The initiative seeks to support the communities neighbouring wind farms part of ESB group to become more sustainable through the support of positive local initiatives and activities.
The fund is open until Friday 22 November 2019 at 12 noon.

The ESB Community fund is to support community projects which clearly address current and emerging local issues, needs and opportunities, while also seeking to develop and build upon existing initiatives.
From equipment to hire venue charges; from painting lessons to science books, you can apply for items that will help you address at least one of the following themes:

The Housing Executive has a number of refurbished laptops for registered groups /organisations who work with our communities on improving services and links with tenants.
There are 500+ community groups who are part of our Housing Community Network who may apply.
Applications may also be accepted with organisations who work in partnership with the Housing Executive across our range of communities strategies.
The equipment will be allocated to groups who can demonstrate links with both the Housing Executive and their communities and who will use the equipment to increase support and capacity in our housing areas.
Preference may be given to groups, working within Housing Executive Communities, on issues relating to Welfare Reform and Universal credit.
7Parental Alienation United As One Conference 2020
La Dolce Vita Project in association with Parental Alienation Europe will be hosting "Parental Alienation United As One Conferences", on 21st April 2020 in Croke Park Dublin and in The City Hotel, Derry/Londonderry 23rd April 2020.
Both conferences are suitable for professionals to include psychotherapists, social workers, psychiatrists, counsellors, barristers, solicitors, guardians of court, family support workers and anyone working are involved with those impacted by domestic abuse, violence and parental alienation.
Learning outcomes will include:
Understanding and knowledge of the prevalence of parental alienation across the world from expert speakers and worldwide research.
Understanding and knowledge of the impact of parental alienation on children and why it is emotional and psychological abuse.
Understanding and knowledge of links with parental alienation to coercive control and domestic abuse.
Understanding and knowledge of the "5 Factor Model, 8 manifesting symptoms in a child, and the 17 strategies used by alienating parents".
Understanding and knowledge of Irish Case Law recognising Parental Alienation (Southern Ireland).
Understanding and knowledge of child custody management strategies for assessing parental alienation.
Understanding and knowledge of legal implications and potential resolutions.

8Safe at Home: Independent Living Solutions Helping Hands Launch

The National Lottery Community Fund has awarded funding to our Project GABLE's Helping Hands Service operating in Derry and Strabane. Our fantastic handymen support older and disabled people living in the private sector, carrying out repairs, maintenance and minor adaptations such as hand and grabrail installations, essential to keeping safe and secure within their own homes.
This funding is enabling us to expand to keep up with increasing needs in the north west, allowing us to reach more people who really need our help, and we are delighted to be launching our transformed Helping Hands Service.
To mark this occasion we are presenting a seminar 'Safe at Home: Independent Living Solutions', to showcase the fantastic work being done to support older and disabled people to maintain their safety and independence at home, and to explore future solutions in our workshop session. Due to high engagement, Nexus NI are running courses on Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Awareness. This subsidized training will be delivered free of charge to designated Health and Social Care Staff, as well as anyone who works directly with young people at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation.
CSE is ‘sexual abuse in which a person or persons exploits, coerces and/or manipulates a child or young person into engaging in some form of sexual activity in return for something the child needs or desires and/or for the gain of the person or persons perpetrating or facilitating the abuse’.
CSE can take many different forms. Victims come from across a range of different social groups, but most will have additional vulnerabilities such as problems in their home life, having been previous victims of child abuse, experiencing emotional and mental health needs or being affected by substance misuse problems. There can also be an overlap with other areas of need such as going missing from home or care or being involved in offending behaviour.
Free training is available to anyone working or volunteering with children and young people, particularly those who are considered at risk of, or currently being, sexually exploited.
PLEASE NOTE, NON-ATTENDANCE OR CANCELLATION LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE THE TRAINING DATE WILL INCUR A £20 ADMIN CHARGE.

Aim
Participants will develop a deeper knowledge and improve their skills in relation to understanding and identifying the sexual exploitation of children and young people and will be clear about their role within the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency context.

The nature and scope of CSE in Northern Ireland
The risks and indicators of sexual exploitation and going missing
The underlying processes associated with CSE
The links between abuse, current behaviour and vulnerability to CSE
Key legislation, policy and agency responses/roles to the issues of CSE and children missing from home and care

Do you have scripts or parts of scripts you would like to try out with other writers? Part of a stage play you've written, scenes from a screenplay or radio drama?
The SOLE PURPOSE THEATRE LAB is a place where you can try out your ideas in a safe and creative environment. This will be an active 'on the floor' event, with professional actors ready to act out and experiment with your work under your direction. It will be facilitated by writer-director Don McCamphill, who has worked with a number of major theatres including Soho Theatre in London, 7:84 (Scotland) and Aisling Ghear (Belfast). His own writing includes a number of screenplays for BBC, Calipo Theatre & Picture Company, and his own company Dancing Eye Films. It will be convened by Patricia Byrne, Artistic Director of Sole Purpose Productions.
Sole Purpose is a multi award winning theatre company, having won the Special Jury Prize for its production of Blinkered by Patricia Byrne at Origin Theatre’s 1st Irish Festival in New York earlier this year. It has toured work throughout Ireland and the UK, and has staged work in USA. It has been developing new and emerging writers for over 20 years.

13‘Stories of Healing: Seamus McDonald and James Greer in Conversation’
Organised in partnership with PeaceBytes, Towards Understanding and Healing’s upcoming event is entitled ‘Stories of Healing: Seamus McDonald and James Greer in Conversation’.
Seamus’ parents were killed by the UFF/UDA in July 1976. James is a former loyalist activist who is now deeply engaged in peace building. At this event they will bring their stories of healing to you.
All are welcome at this free event, which will take place from 6-9pm on Monday 11 November at PeaceBytes, First Floor, 14 The Diamond, Derry/Londonderry.

During the day there will be stories from artists who have made or are working on art that draws from their own perspective of Partition, Borders, Brexit.

The Playhouse Theatre and Peacebuilding Academy is seeking a dynamic and ambitious set designer / builder to create and realise the set for ‘First Response’, a participatory arts piece created with people who worked on the front line during The Troubles.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in conceiving and creating exciting, interactive, conceptual spaces; will be adept at constructing tour-able sets (to fit in 1x long wheel based medium height transit van); will have an enthusiasm for cross-form collaboration; and will ideally have experience working in a devising theatre process. Maximum available fee: £2,640 to cover design, build, and any subsistence or personal expenses. There is a materials budget of approx. £2,500.

DFE will be advertising an open competition to recruit 6 new members to the Invest NI Board on 7 & 8 November 2019 in the three main local papers. The appointments begin in February 2019 and attract remuneration of £12,240 a year (under review). The time commitment is approximately three days per month including monthly board meetings, ad hoc committee meetings and attendance at occasional evening engagements. 18Building Community Capacity to Address Health Inequalities Across NI - Stakeholder Engagement Workshops
Public Health Agency (PHA) is holding a series of stakeholder events to engage with users, service providers, families and other stakeholders in relation to services commissioned by PHA which seek to build community capacity to help address health inequalities in Northern Ireland.
This builds on previous engagement carried out by PHA in 2018 to seek views on how Community Development approaches could support the transformation of our Health Service.
This further engagement will help inform a consultation on how future services should be shaped to contribute to improved health outcomes.
This is a critical step in contributing to the development of a PHA commissioning plan for future community development infrastructure and is underpinned by a commitment to co-design and co-production.
Events are being held across Northern Ireland and you are welcome to attend any event which suits you best.

Experts have encouraged the Derry public to explore their natural surroundings this autumn and experience all the health benefits it brings.
Taking a walk in the woods is the easiest way to get closer to nature and enjoy the outdoors.
Trees, woods and forests help people feel better, encourage more active lifestyles and alleviate the symptoms of some debilitating conditions. So, it makes perfect sense to combine your daily exercise with a trip to the great outdoors.
Derry is home to stunning woodland and riverside walks such as the recently restored Ness Woods with its impressive new adventure playpark for children.
You also have Burntollet, Brackfield and Prehen Woods - which dates back to the 1600s – amongst others.
A spokesperson for the Woodland Trust expounded on the "countless benefits" of spending time in woodlands saying scientific studies have shown that “green exercise” can improve self-esteem and mood, as well as reducing stress, anxiety disorders and depression.
She explained: “On top of that autumn offers the keen nature watcher the opportunity to enjoy the flurry of wildlife gearing up for winter.
“At this time of year you can spot migrant fieldfares feeding on hawthorn berries or catch a glimpse of jays burying acorns for winter, which in turn makes them excellent tree planters as they usually leave a few behind.
“Combine that with the vibrant autumn colour on offer and what’s not to like about being outside.”
She continued: “Prehen Wood is one of the Woodland Trust’s rare and irreplaceable ancient woods, dating back as far as 1600.
“The woodland is a natural treasure trove, a place of great beauty offering a peaceful walk along a looped pathway – and all on the doorstep of the city.
“Venturing 12 miles south of the city and into the Faughan Valley you can explore 5 Woodland Trust woodlands offering beautiful walks with picturesque views including Burntollet Wood, Brackfield Wood, Kilaloo Wood, Oaks Wood and Bonds Glen.
"With neighbours Ness Country Park owned by NIEA this area offers bountiful choice for visitors to enjoy.”
