Confirmed keynote speakers also include: Dr Nick Watts, NHS Chief Sustainability Officer Dr Maria Neira, WHO Director of Public Health and Environment Professor John Barry, School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics, QUB
Climate change is described by the World Health Organization as the ‘single biggest health threat facing humanity’. It impacts health both directly and indirectly and has a strong relationship with the determinants of health.
Sustainability in healthcare will also be a key theme of the one-day conference and will consider how healthcare workers, public health professionals and policy makers can respond to the challenges posed.

9 World Alzheimer's Day Events 21st September Deeds at the Old Library Trust
DEEDS are hosting two workshop to highlight World Alzheimer’s Day on Wednesday 21st September. Both sessions are aimed at carers, and they do not have to do both sessions, but it is an option if they so wish, and we will provide lunch for anyone who opts to do both.
1. Creating a Dementia Friendly Environment – led by Stephanie Coyle (Dementia Navigator) 15 Places. Beginning 11am in the Family RoomThis session helps carers to become aware of the impact dementia can have on visual and spatial awareness and how to support their loved ones by making changes in the home.
2. Fidget Blanket Making Workshop – led by artist Charlotte Gormley 15 Places. Beginning 2pm in the Spin Studio
We often have calls from carers about fidget blankets which can be expensive to buy. A fidget blanket is a lap sized quilt that provides sensory& tactile stimulation for restless hands.
Carers have noted how essential these blankets can be for loved ones during respite or hospital stays. This is a simple way of making more personalised fidget blankets and carers will be encouraged to bring
materials and small objects that may have significance to their loved ones whom they are making this for.
All places must be booked through the DEEDS team by either emailing Sinead on sinead@olt.ie or by phoning the centre on 028 71 373870.
Please note that this training will be delivered Face to Face (Not available online )
This is a two-day programme which uses experiential learning. The workshop is suitable for mental health professionals and counsellors. It provides an opportunity to enhance the awareness of their own anger. In addition, as participants gain greater awareness of these aspects of themselves, they will gain greater insight as to how to help their clients explore their own anger. This workshop will provide practical tools that will enhance the participant’s capacity to work with clients who are angry.
