This will be an interactive but intimate event based on the 'Human Library' concept were real people, in this case volunteers, are like a book that is on loan to members of the public to read and find out more about, asking questions and having meaningful conversations. Volunteers will be representing a range of local voluntary organisations who will also be attending and actively recruiting volunteers on the day.
The Police Property Fund is made up of assets recovered by the PSNI as a result of criminal investigations, and administered by the Board in line with the Police (Property) Regulations NI 1997. The Policing Board agreed to implement the Fund through a Small Grants Scheme (80% of available Funds) and a Large Grants Scheme (20% of available Funds).
Applications for funding will need to demonstrate that the project:
Engages with local police;
Contributes to building community safety and/or confidence in the police in your area; and

NICVA wants to hear about the issues sector organisations are currently facing in relation to staffing and workforce and is holding a series of focus groups to engage with the sector.
5Victim Charter and Witness Charter Awareness Sessions
DoJ and partners are holding a series of Charters Awareness Sessions for those working in the voluntary and community sector. The Victim Charter sets out the entitlements and services that victims of crime in Northern Ireland can expect to receive from a range of service providers.
These entitlements are protected by law. The sessions will provide an overview of what the Charters mean and why they are important for victims.
Why should I attend? We want to ensure that those working in the voluntary and community sector understand why the Charters are important and how to signpost victims and witnesses to relevant information.
Who should come along? Staff and volunteers who come into contact with victims or witnesses of crime.

As part of the development of the Department for Infrastructure Active Travel Delivery Plan for Northern Ireland Sustrans have been sub-contracted to undertake targeted stakeholder engagement. This engagement will take the form of online workshops to discuss Active Travel needs in a particular local area.
As a Community Group or Workplace in the Derry City area, we are inviting you to attend an online workshop on the following date:
8th November at 3pm. The Workshop will be hosted on MS Teams and is expected to last approximately 1hr.
The workshop will aim to compile Active Travel needs in your locality. These needs could be general, or more specific items. A mapping tool will be available that includes your town/locality, and you will have the opportunity to add locations to this during the workshop.
When we get confirmation of your availability a Teams link will be sent to allow you to accept and join the workshop.

This event is free-to-attend, open to everyone and tea and coffee will be provided.
11Stress Awareness Week – take positive action for better wellbeing
This week is Stress Awareness Week (30 October – 3 November) and the Public Health Agency (PHA) is encouraging those experiencing stress to participate in free online stress control classes throughout November.
Stress is the feeling of being unable to cope as a result of too much mental or emotional pressure. It can affect our physical health as well as our mental health and wellbeing.
Common signs of stress include sleeping problems, sweating, loss of appetite, difficulty concentrating, feeling anxious, irritable, low in self-esteem, have racing thoughts, worrying constantly or going over things in your head.
Topics in the programme include:
an overview of what stress is;
controlling your body, controlling your thoughts, controlling your actions and controlling panic;
getting a good night’s sleep;
boosting your wellbeing.
The stress control course is available online, free-of-charge. You can watch each of the six sessions (90 minutes each) for 48hrs after they go live on YouTube.

17An open letter to ‘at risk’ groups regarding the autumn vaccinations
The Public Health Agency (PHA) is encouraging people who fall into an ‘at risk’ group to take up the offer of the autumn vaccinations as soon as you are invited.
All individuals in clinical risk groups who are aged from six months to 65 years, as well as those aged 65 years and older, are advised to receive the vaccines.
If you are ‘at risk’, either due to older age, a health condition, medical treatment or are pregnant, you are at increased risk of becoming seriously unwell if you contract influenza or COVID-19. Vaccines are the most effective way to prevent infectious diseases as they teach our immune system how to recognise and fight viruses. They are safe, effective and free for all those in the eligible groups.
Some people may be offered the flu jab and COVID-19 booster vaccine at the same appointment. It is safe and effective to receive it in this way.
Being vaccinated against both viruses will give you the best protection from a potentially devastating double threat this winter.
People who are eligible for vaccination should make themselves aware of their own GP surgery’s, community pharmacist’s or trust’s vaccination arrangements.
So, if you are eligible for either the flu vaccine, COVID-19 vaccine or both, take up the offer when invited to help protect yourself and those around you this winter.
