2Save the Date: Cost of Living Crisis - Tough Times, Smart Solutions
How can we best support your organisation and help fight your corner through the current cost of living crisis?
Date: 25 May 2023 Time: 1:30pm to 4:30pm Venue: DiverseCity Community Partnership, Holywell Building, 10-12 Bishop Street.
NWCN in partnership with NICVA would like to invite you to this timely event. This workshop is an opportunity for you and your organisation to share the challenges you are facing. Voluntary and community organisations are on the front line of the cost-of-living crisis supporting people and communities, all while facing rising demand for services, falling income, and rising operational costs.
Our sector can't continue to respond to this crisis without support.
This event will be a safe space to share your concerns, learn from other organisations and have a say on the support your organisation and beneficiaries need.
The Telecommunity Fund is open at present for constituted grass roots community and voluntary groups
Priority will be given to applications from small groups, typically with an annual income of less than £200,000, as evidenced in most recent set of accounts
Projects must aim to directly support one of the following specific groups:
Young people
Older people
People with disabilities
The Fund will not support projects targeting all ages.
Priority will be given to projects that will benefit groups dealing with disadvantage (e.g. rural isolation, low income, social exclusion, reduced access to services), and projects that involve the beneficiaries in their development and delivery.
The Telecommunity Fund is open on an ongoing basis. The applications are assessed at panel meetings held approximately 3-4 times per year.
The next panel meeting will take place on Tuesday 20 June 2023, therefore applications submitted after Tuesday 2 May 2023 at 12 noon will not be considered in this round.

We fund small local organisations and large national institutions. Our grants range from £1,000 to several million pounds, depending on each charity’s size and scope of work. Our grants can be for your organisation’s running costs, for a specific activity or for capital projects. We are flexible and fund what charities need the most.

Join Supporting Communities for this short session looking at planning and completing a successful funding application.
Learners will gain:
• an understanding of the key processes of a successful funding application
• increased confidence when approaching funders
• enhanced fundraising skills and knowledge
6 Community and Voluntary Sector Infrastructure Support – Future Plans
The Department is carrying out a programme of work aimed at refreshing the policy frameworks for our voluntary and community sector support. This will include agreeing with our partners on the outcomes that we should prioritise in future years. A review of sectoral needs will inform how we can better support the sector to deliver outcomes set out in any future Programme for Government.
We are committed to engaging with a wide range of organisations in the sector, including those supported through our existing funding programmes as well as those that are not. We will also involve other departments, local government and independent funders. We will also be working with Reference Groups comprising a range of sectoral interests, through which we will draw on lived experience, expertise and knowledge, and together explore a range of insights and ideas in the design of new approaches.
Please take part in this short survey. It should take you no more than ten minutes to complete and will give us valuable information on current capacity and support needs within the sector.
Our survey is just one part of our engagement and will stay open until Easter.
All events are now at full capacity. We will soon be opening registration for more workshop sessions in April and May – we will share details on these in the coming weeks.

9Advance Care Planning Week 3 - 7 April, 2023, ‘Think and Plan Ahead’
Advance care planning is about living for today and planning for our future care needs of tomorrow.
During this week Compassionate Communities NI are running multiple workshops around Northern Ireland on the new Advance Care Planning Policy for Northern Ireland.
The week will be launched on Monday, 3 April at 12.15 p.m. at Foyle Arena, followed by an information session.
On Tuesday, 4 April at 12.30 p.m. there is a literary event, ‘Compassionate Conversations’ followed at 2.00 p.m. by an information session.

The DEEDS project is hosting a conference on 16th May at the City Hotel: 9.30am ending with lunch.
This conference will celebrate the success of the first funded phase of DEEDS as well as launch the new phase with a particular reference to our innovative training and education which is being offered out into the community including local businesses and Care provider groups.
RNID urgently require volunteers within the WHSCT to carry out meet/greet, hearing aid support within local communities, this involves providing support and advice to NHS hearing aid users at our Hearing Aid User Support Sessions (HAUSS), in residential care homes and in their own homes, helping them with basic maintenance of their hearing aids.
