Join Jocelyn Horton, NICVA’s Fundraising Advice Officer and learn how developing a Case for Support can improve your fundraising efforts whether you are focusing on trusts and foundations, major donors, or individual giving. The session will also explore what funders want to know and ways to use your Case for Support in your communications and opportunities to chat with others.

Our communities are becoming more diverse. We need to reflect this diversity at all levels.
As our society changes, our organisations also must change.
This Fund is supported by Comic Relief to support groups to begin these conversations and reflections, so that they can strive to be inclusive to all.
Priorities:
Assist in making organsiations management structures, policies, decision making, activities and programmes reflective of the diversity we have in our society;
Assisting organisations to Identify the barriers and provide solutions to improve diversity, equity and inclusion within their organisation;
Demonstrate a commitment to implementing the solutions, reflecting greater diversity, equity and inclusion in their organisation
We have two grant programmes which depend on the size of the grant being requested
Regular Grants
For applications below £100,000. These applications are reviewed by our Trustees on an ongoing basis so there are no specific deadlines to worry about. You can apply when you are ready and when your plans and priorities are sufficiently clear to be able to make a compelling case
Major Grants
For application of £100,000 or more. These are reviewed at one of the Foundation’s eight Board meetings a year and are carefully planned in advance to be fair to all applicants. If you are considering applying for a major grant, please start by sending a one – two page summary to admin@garfieldweston.org outlining what you are raising funds for, the total cost and fundraising target.
A small number of grants are available for organisations, community groups, local events, and activities that help to build public and political support for the campaign. We are especially interested in supporting groups working in the areas of fuel poverty, housing, disability rights, climate justice, or on alternative solutions (e.g. energy co-ops).
Warm This Winter is a new campaign demanding the government acts now to help people struggling with energy bills this winter and to ensure we all have access to affordable energy in the future. The campaign focuses on four clear demands aimed at the government:
Emergency support for vulnerable households
An ambitious, nation-wide energy efficiency programme
A rollout of onshore wind generation
An end to offshore oil and gas expansion

Income generation & Fundraising
Wednesday 7th December, 7:30-8:30pm, Zoom/Fermanagh House
A decline in grants and funding means organisations must re-think and diversify their income. This workshop will provide guidance on the income options available to community and voluntary organisations. Delivered by Lauri McCusker, Director Fermanagh Trust.

As part of the NLCF's strategy renewal process, we're hosting a conversation to explore how communities can make the biggest impact for a healthier environment in the years ahead.
This is a free online event, but places are limited.

How will we do that?
By consolidating hundreds of systems into one, creating a single health care record for every person in Northern Ireland. encompass aims to provide patients and service users with the safest, highest quality of care possible. encompass will give patients and service users the ability to view and update their health information.
How can you get involved?
encompass, in partnership with the Patient and Client Council, are seeking members of the public with an interest in health care and digital technology to participate. We need you to share experiences and preferences to help ensure that new digital tools meet the needs of you, your family and all citizens across Northern Ireland.
I am currently studying a Masters in Psychological Science at Queen's University, and working as Service Coordinator for the Eating Disorders Association Northern Ireland. I have decided to conduct a research study into eating disorders, and disordered eating in Northern Ireland as this is a very limited area of research. I am trying to circulate the study as far and wide as possible. I would really appreciate it if you could complete the survey.
I have a broad spectrum of research aims, including: the prevalence of eating disorders and disordered eating, taking into account a wide range of factors, such as age, employment, geographical area, and gender. I am also interested in the types of eating disorders that people are currently struggling with, and whether individuals are currently receiving support or not. Furthermore, the survey seeks to collect data on whether individuals have had a diagnosis or not.
Many of life’s demands can cause stress, particularly work, relationships and money worries.
Learn how to manage stress now and in the future, from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
The Stress Control programme is funded by PHA so is free to participants.
It is held online, once a week over six weeks, teaching skill and techniques for managing stress. There is no requirement to register or log in. Each class is 90 minutes long and available to view for a limited period.
10Free Places: Level 3 Emergency First Aid At Work (RQF)
This 6-hour course will include an EFAW manual, practical assessment on choking, recovery position, CPR & AED, managing bleeds, and much more. Places are limited to 2 per organisation!

Male factor fertility problems are the most common reason for a couple to seek fertility treatment, yet far too often men’s fertility is not tested in the first stages of a couple seeking medical help, leading to unnecessary delays and distress. We are calling for men’s fertility to be tested in a timely manner at the same time as a woman’s fertility is explored. Fertility education is now part of the secondary school curriculum but what is taught is still too limited. We are calling for comprehensive fertility education for teenagers and young adults, so they understand fertility isn’t a guarantee, how age and lifestyle impact fertility, and appreciate the limits of fertility treatments, including IVF and egg freezing. 13 Recruitment for Independent Monitoring Board Members
The Department of Justice is seeking to appoint a minimum of 9 members to the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) for Northern Ireland. The role of an IMB member is to monitor the treatment of prisoners and the conditions of their imprisonment.
14 Public Appointment: Chair and Four Members to the Industrial Court
The Chair and members are required to sit as and when required. The Chair will normally have to devote on average two days a month to Court work, although this will fluctuate depending on caseload. This may involve commitment both inside and outside normal working hours.
Current remuneration is:
Chair – £521.80 per day
Members – £296.62 per day
We particularly welcome applications from younger people, people with a disability and those from minority ethnic groups as these are currently under-represented on the Governing Body.
We are operating the Guaranteed Interview Scheme for applicants with a disability.
Applicants with a disability who meet all of the criteria at the sift stage will automatically be offered an interview.
The closing date for applications is Noon (UK time) on Friday 18 November 2022.
