Following recent incidents of flooding, individual householders who have suffered severe inconvenience can claim £1,000 payment from their local council, as an offer of practical assistance. The payment is meant to ensure that homes are made habitable as quickly as possible. This is not a compensation payment.
If you feel that you may be entitled to a payment contact your council as soon as possible and they will arrange for an urgent inspection of your property. If the Council decides that your claim is eligible, you will receive your payment promptly.

The NLCF are looking for projects that focus on the link between nature and climate. We want to fund projects that use nature to encourage more community-led climate action. We expect these projects to bring other important social and economic benefits. Like the creation of strong, resilient and healthy communities or the development of ‘green’ skills and jobs.
We’re interested in projects that can do at least one of the following:
show how creating a deeper connection with nature will lead to changing people’s behaviours and greater care for the environment
show how by bringing nature back into the places we live and work, we can help communities to reduce or adapt to the impacts of climate change.
We want all the projects we fund to be creative, include everyone and try out new things. Projects also need to show how they can achieve longer-term, larger change that goes beyond the communities they're directly working with.
We’re looking to fund between 12 and 15 projects.
Funding size: Up to £1.5 million over 2 to 5 years, with most projects between £300,000 and £500,000. Development grants of £50,000 to £150,000 over 12 to 18 months. Application deadline: Ongoing

Saint Stephen's Green Trust believes putting families at the heart of the criminal justice system and processes is the ‘golden thread’ which can reduce the harm of imprisonment and contribute to rehabilitation. Therefore, a strategic aim of SSGT is to contribute to improving the system of support for families affected by convictions and imprisonment to improve rehabilitation and resettlement outcomes. Evidence shows that prisoners who manage to maintain family bonds whilst in prison have significantly reduced reoffending risks upon release. Families cannot bear this burden alone and should be supported in this role. However, SSGT acknowledges family relationships are complex and systems should take account of the best interests of both the family and the prisoner.
SSGT’s approach, as a small grantmaker, is to work towards outcomes to which it can best contribute, given identified need and opportunities to engage. Therefore, the grant programme will seek to make a contribution to the following outcomes:
Outcome 1: Family-centred approaches to rehabilitation and reintegration become normalised in the prison system, at the point of imprisonment, during the sentence and on release Outcome 2: The voice of prisoners and their families adds to the evidence base and understanding of the value of family-centred approaches to reintegration and maintaining family bonds Outcome 3: Government and state bodies are held accountable for reducing the harm of imprisonment to families
The grant programme is now open and we are inviting Expressions of Interest. Please read the grant programme guidelines carefully here before submitting an application through our online form here.
The deadline for receipt of Expressions of Interest is Thurs 15th Sept 2022
