Important information for anyone applying for Grant Aid through the Community Venues, Community Support, and Good Relations Programmes.
Due to a software problem which is beyond Council's control, applications cannot be submitted through our online system.
Applicants must complete a downloadable application formand registration form and the deadline has now been extended until April 30th.
This also applies to any organisation that has already made an online application – a new hard copy must now be submitted. As the process is now offline no registration numbers will be issued.
We apologise for any inconvenience - officers will do everything they can to support applicants in successfully completing their submissions before the deadline.
The Tesco Bags of Help Programme has been relaunched as the Tesco Community Grants programme to support local good causes that focus on helping children and families across the UK.
Registered charities, voluntary and community organisations, schools, parish/town councils and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of £500, £1,000 or £1,500. Three projects from each local area will be shortlisted to go to the public vote by Tesco customers every three months, with grants awarded depending on the number of votes their project receives.
Examples of eligible applications with a focus on supporting children and families could be;
a local school needing food for a children’s breakfast club,
a voluntary organisation working with families to run holiday clubs,
a charity supporting young people with specialist advice to manage mental health,
a brownie or scout group needing new tents,
or a youth sports club needing new equipment,
a family advice centre wanting to recruit more volunteers,
or a local friends of a park group wanting to develop a new toddler area.
The Planned Interventions Programme provides funding for community activity to divert young people from anti-social and potentially criminal behaviour around contentious parades and public assemblies and to deal with heightened tension around interfaces.
The Programme seeks to develop the capacity of individuals and groups of children and young people to meaningfully take part in structured cross community engagement and relationship building programmes, such as T:BUC Camps.
The main outcomes of Planned Intervention Funding include improving attitudes between young people from different community backgrounds and reducing the number of crime and anti-social behaviour incidents carried out by young people in their local communities.
The Programme is funded by The Executive Office and administered by the Education Authority.
The Planned Interventions Programme is open for applications and will close on Friday 30 April 2021, at 4pm.

Many women’s lives are complex, and they often have tangled paths through systems, structures and communities to access the support needed to live safe, independent lives. Research into the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that women are facing the additional burden of unemployment, childcare and economic distress.
The Empowering Women Fund, part of the Labyrinth Project, is a Tampon Tax funded grant scheme, led by Solace. It will provide funding to support small women’s groups and organisations to develop innovative ways of empowering women in their local area and build the capacity of small organisations. The fund is divided into two strands and grants can run for up to 12 months.
Organisations can apply for: Seed funding grants (£500-£1,000)
Available to small women’s groups to establish and run micro women’s empowerment projects in their local area that support women to build skills and confidence, and decrease social isolation. Women’s Sector grants (£1,000-£25,000)
Available for women’s groups and organisations to develop capacity to respond to changing needs in their communities and run projects over a fixed duration of at least 6 months. The deadline for round one applications is Friday 28th May 2021 at 5pm.How to Apply

8Consultation on Review of Pre-School Admission Socially Disadvantaged Circumstances Criterion
The Department of Education has launched a public consultation seeking views on reviewing the current requirement established in law that all pre-school education settings must prioritise children from ‘socially disadvantaged circumstances’ in their admissions criteria. All of the relevant documents are available on the DE website.
Rural Community Network is organising a discussion workshop via Zoom on the Peace PLUS consultation on Thursday 29th April from 10.30am to 12noon. SEUPB are currently consulting on their draft Peace PLUS programme which will distribute €1BN of funding in Northern Ireland and the six Border counties of the Republic of Ireland from 2021-2027. Peace PLUS is an EU funded programme which seeks to build on the work of previous PEACE and INTERREG programmes.

Northern Ireland Assembly Commission “Perspectives On…”: A Series of Events to Mark the Decade of Centenaries
The Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Alex Maskey MLA, will host a series of lectures to mark the centenaries in 2021 of the creation of Northern Ireland/ Partition and the first sitting of the old Northern Ireland Parliament. “Perspectives on the Creation of Northern Ireland/ Partition”, a series of four virtual lectures, will be presented by Dr Éamon Phoenix, historian and broadcaster. Dr Éamon Phoenix will also be joined by Ann Donnelly of Northern Ireland Screen to bring the events to life with imagery and video from the time for lectures one and four.
To launch the series, the Speaker will be joined by the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Rt Hon Lindsay Hoyle MP and the Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann, Seán Ó Fearghaíl TD.

Carers Connect
This Free 8-week programme is for carers caring for someone with early-stage dementia or who are still able to engage well in activities. It is taught on Zoom and is bespoke to the carer and loved one they are caring for. Carers learn why activities and a schedule is important for those with dementia and are taught activities for their loved ones. Carers are supplied with resources for the course and a tablet and Wi-Fi support on loan is included.
The programme timetable is set via the Support Workers with the carer around the carers’ availability. Programme is due to start the week beginning 3rd May.
