1PEACE IV Funding - Building Positive Relations - Regional
SEUPB has opened a new funding call, under the EU’s PEACE IV Programme, to support community-led social innovation across Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland.
This call will fund a single regional-wide project that can create new approaches to tackle the challenges which keep communities divided.
The successful applicant will be expected to engage in meaningful peace and reconciliation activity and include a pathway/outreach programme that creates sustained contact between people from different backgrounds and communities.
The project must also have a specific focus on the needs of minority groups as well as groups who traditionally have been marginalised by society. It will create opportunities for these groups to have a greater degree of participation and integration within larger community life. See below details of the funding call.
The call will close on Thursday 16 November 2020 at 3pm. The SEUPB cannot accept applications received after this date.

We want you to come up with fresh ideas to help transform local communities for the better.
8 Local Growth Areas across Derry and Strabane – Ballyarnett, Foyleside, The Moor, Waterside, Faughan, Sperrin, Strabane Town and The Derg – are covered by Local Community Plans.
£2,500 will be available in each Local Growth Area to deliver the ideas you come up with.
Individual projects can apply for awards of up to £1,000 or up to £500.
Your challenge is to come up with an idea to make a difference in your area under one of the following themes…
Arts & Culture (e.g. festival and events etc.)
Community & Environment (e.g. volunteering; environmental improvements; community resilience etc.)
Sport, Health & Wellbeing (e.g. Sports equipment; Mental health initiatives)
A Youth led Steering Group will review your ideas against the following criteria:
Safe
Legal
Feasible within budget and timeframe
Youth centred and in line with one or more of the themes above.
Who can apply?
Anyone aged between 12 to 25 can submit an idea.
To promote cooperation and team building submissions must be from groups of two people or more. The rest is up to you – just choose one or more theme and get creative.
The successful candidates must be able to deliver their project or event before the end of February 2021.
How to apply
Applications opened on 08 September 2020, closing on 08 October 2020 and can be completed via the ‘Apply Now‘ link below or be sent in writing to CommunityPlanning@derrystrabane.com.
Your idea will be checked by the Youth Steering Group to make sure that it meets the criteria – safe, legal, feasible and youth-centred in line with themes. You will then be asked to submit a video which captures your idea. Your videos will be shared online and will go to a public vote to decide which ideas happen in your area
Videos must be submitted by 03 November 2020. Online public voting opening 09 November for 1 week.
This Scheme is funded under the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation Programme.
Micro Capital grants of between £200 and £1,500 are available to rural community-led, voluntary organisations for projects tackling issues of local poverty and / or social isolation.
The total project cost must not exceed £3,000.
Projects must clearly address an issue of rural poverty and / or social isolation and applicants must provide a minimum of 15% match funding.
The scheme is being delivered by the Rural Support Networks on behalf of the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs. Application forms, guidance notes and further advice and information is available from the Rural Support Network in your council area, details below.
The Rural Micro Capital Grant Scheme 2020 has been designed to:
Help rural community-led, voluntary groups to address local issues of access poverty, financial poverty and social isolation; and
Improve the lives of rural communities, and in particular the wellbeing of isolated individuals.
Projects must focus on one of the following three themes:
Modernisation (of premises / assets)
Information Communication Technology (ICT)
Health and Wellbeing
In recognizing the impact of Covid 19, and the need for investment to reopen and safely operate venues, eligible costs may include structural alterations, e.g. ventilation systems for rooms without windows; heating rooms previously unused rooms to provide more space; removing walls to improve space and improve distancing. Furthermore, goods which have a degree of permanence (anticipated to have a life beyond 1 year) or can be permanently affixed to the venue can also be considered eligible. This would allow items including sanitiser stations, perspex screens, signage, floor markings, refillable spray bottles, automatic doors, replacement furniture that can be wiped down and contactless thermometers.
The Rural Micro Capital Grant Scheme 2020 will be open for applications from Monday 7 September until 12 noon on Friday 2 October 2020.

The Road Safety (Safe Travel) Grant Scheme, administered by the Department for Infrastructure, aims to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on the roads while also encouraging active travel.
Individuals and groups from the voluntary and community sector can apply for grants of up to £10,000 to develop and run projects which are aimed at improving road safety or the take up of active travel in local communities. Individuals can only apply for funding if they are working in partnership with a community group, which must be involved in the application process.
To qualify, groups must be properly constituted, have a bank account and be able to complete the project by 5 March 2021.
The scheme is designed to support achievement of the targets contained within the Northern Ireland Road Safety Strategy and the draft Programme for Government outcomes associated with increasing active travel, by funding community-based projects by not-for-profit community groups.
Increasing the number of people choosing to walk or cycle for short journeys and reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured on Northern Ireland roads are key priorities for the Department.

5Techies in Residence closing for applications 10th September!
We believe that digital technology holds huge potential to help the VCSE sector develop new innovative solutions to address community challenges and issues. This has become even more evident in light of the outbreak of COVID 19 with many organisations grappling with the shift to digital working – and how best to respond to it.
The Techies in Residence programme is free to participate in. It brings together social challenges from VCSE organisations with digital technology professionals to design, develop and test innovative digital products and services that have the potential for deep social impact.

Over the past 9 years, there has been little progress made with the implementation of the Autism Strategy, which was a result from the Autism Act NI (2011). The autism community in Northern Ireland deserve better and we are in full support of MLA Pam Cameron’s proposed Private Members Bill on Autism.
This Bill proposes an oversight function and a new funding model to guarantee independent evaluation and drive forward the implementation of dedicated autism services.

Our main goal is to meet the housing needs of people with AUTISM by providing FREE practical support, advice and assistance. Practitioners will avail of:
opportunities to be inspired and better informed through inputs from experts in the field, and to have space and time to share and reflect upon their international learning experiences and thus continue to add to the existing evidence base;
an opportunity to document in broad terms how participant's experiences (of ‘the international’) have informed and influenced their perception of and approach to intercultural dialogue, peace-building and reconciliation;
specific examples of how international experience has contributed to intercultural dialogue, peace-building and reconciliation between individuals, local communities and society as a whole, but also how it equips practitioners in a practical sense to ‘do their job;
opportunities to demonstrate how experience from participation in international programmes has contributed to or influenced practical efforts to nurture relationships between diverse communities;
due consideration to the potential differences that anticipated non-participation in European programmes will make in a post-Brexit era;
a setting to ‘mark’ the end of this particular era in UK-European international relations by exploring ways in which they can maximise other international opportunities to promote relationships between diverse communities;
conclusions and recommendations for those involved in policy development and delivery as to how ‘the international’ can be utilised and maximised to support intercultural dialogue, peace-building and reconciliation in a UK-wide post-Brexit future.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions we have decided to hold a week-long networking event on our Facebook page from 28th September-2 October 2020.
During this week we are offering groups the opportunity to take virtual stands to showcase their organisation’s services, support, advice, volunteer work and training opportunities available to women throughout the North West.

The Eden Project are holding a virtual 'community camp' this October and November. If you've been interested in Eden Project Community Camps in the past but have never had the chance to join, make sure to apply to this one, which obviously won't require time away from home.
The Virtual Community Camp will span five weeks and will consist of two sessions per week plus a few additional/offline activities for you to do in your own time during the week at some points, particularly during Week 4.
