You are invited to attend our AGM at 10:00am on Thursday 07th December 2023, at the Holywell DiverseCity Partnership Building, Bishop Street where we will outline our achievements of the past year and set out our priorities for the year ahead.
Registration for our Spring 2024 Funding Round will be open from 12pm (midday) on Wednesday 6th December, to 12pm (midday) on Wednesday 13th December 2023.
On Thursday 14th December, all those who submit a registration will be emailed with confirmation of whether they have been allocated a place on the funding round. They will then be invited to submit a complete application. We have plenty of resources on how you can strengthen your application.
The Fore make unrestricted grants which have the potential to have a transformational impact on an organisation. Transformational impact includes helping organisations become more sustainable, more efficient, to grow significantly or enabling an organisation to take a major step forward of some kind.
Grow Wild is offering grants of £2000 to twenty-five groups from across the UK to transform urban spaces for the benefit of people and wildlife by planting and championing UK native plants.
Grow Wild's Community Programme will support your project with:
A £2000 grant to transform an urban space with UK native plants, encourage wildlife and engage your local community.
Tailored online training sessions to support your project delivery, build your knowledge and help you inspire other people to get involved.
Opportunities to connect with other groups taking part in the programme, share experiences and learn from each other.

4PEACEPLUS Theme 1.1 Public/Community Tender Training Workshops
After successful feedback from Tender Training and Awareness workshops delivered in October, The PEACE Team are repeating the same workshop in January for any further interested individuals or organisations. Places are openly advertised and are on a first come first served basis (25 places max per course). If your organization is new to tendering, or if you feel you would benefit from this training, register. It is fine for organizations to reserve more than one place (or attend a repeat workshop) and training is relevant to anyone who may directly work on writing and submitting a tender. The Northern Ireland Anti-Poverty Network is hosting a webinar to examine the topic of revenue raising given the fiscal and economic context of Northern Ireland. In September, the Secretary of State, Chris Heaton-Harris instructed the permanent secretaries of the NI departments to look into ways to raise revenue, and consultations are now underway.
This webinar aims to reframe the discussion about revenue raising, focusing on the reality of the Northern Ireland economy, from the impacts of austerity measures, budget cuts, low wages and inadequate social security income; whilst also looking at ways in which revenue can be raised.

Dr. Lisa Wilson, Senior Economist, NERILisa Wilson is a Senior Economist at the Nevin Economic Research Institute and is based in the Belfast office. Her main research interests lie in the areas of labour markets, income distribution, poverty, public expenditure, living standards and well-being.
Dr. Ciara Fitzpatrick, Lecturer, School of Law, UU
Dr Ciara Fitzpatrick is a lecturer and researcher at Ulster University School of Law. Her research expertise is the social security system and issues associated with it namely, poverty, destitution, and the gendered impacts of socio-economic disadvantage.
John-Patrick Clayton, Policy Officer, UNISON
John-Patrick Clayton is the Policy Officer for UNISON NI. He was a member of the Department for Communities Anti Poverty Strategy Co-Design Group.
Chaired by Goretti Horgan, Social Policy Lecturer, UU
Goretti Horgan is a Senior Lecturer in social policy at Ulster University. She is Director of ARK’s Policy Unit. She researches and writes about reproductive justice, including abortion, child and family poverty, disability, and children’s and women’s rights generally. Goretti was appointed by the Minister for Communities to the Anti-Poverty Strategy Expert Advisory Panel, the Panel’s report was published by the Department in March 2021. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Ireland Anti Poverty Network.
25th Anniversary of Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony - Leadership for Peaceful Change: Solutions to Lasting Peace
The John and Pat Hume Foundation are hosting a special event at 2pm on Monday 11 December 2023 in the Guildhall in Derry – Londonderry to mark the 25th anniversary of award of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1998 to John Hume and David Trimble and promote leadership for peaceful change solutions to lasting peace.
There will be panel discussions on human rights, social justice and leadership for peaceful change along with live music and video tributes.
Speakers includeBertie Ahern, Lady Daphne Trimble, Dawn Purvis, Brid Rodgers, Anjli Parrin, human rights advocate from Kenya; Chougher Maria Doughramajian, President of Voices of Young Refugees in Europe, Séamus O’Reilly, Derry writer; David Kerr, St Vincent De Paul, Salvation Army and a special video by Fergal Keane, BBC foreign correspondent.
7Supporting Mental Health in the Workplace Seminar
The Labour Relations Agency (Regional Office) is holding a Supporting Mental Health in the Workplace Seminar on Wednesday 13 December 2023 from 10.30am to approx. 12.30pm.
Training for Staff and Volunteers (Western Trust area)
This is a FREE 1 day certificated course for those working/volunteering with adults at risk. It covers:
awareness of vulnerability;
legal context of adult safeguarding;
awareness of abuse issues;
procedures for reporting concerns;
procedures for planning activities and assessing and managing risk;
confidentiality issues; and
code of behaviour for staff/volunteers.
The training will raise awareness of risk of harm in adulthood and assist voluntary, community and independent organisations working with adults at risk to achieve the minimum standards of best practice as outlined in the publication ‘Keeping Adults Safe – A Shared Responsibility’.
PLEASE NOTE: This training will be provided for Voluntary, Community and Independent sectors and a maximum of 5 participants from any one organisation will be accepted on to each training course.
Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis and are limited.

11Opportunity to engage - Nursing and Midwifery Council - NI workshop
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is the independent regulator for nurses and midwives in the UK, and nursing associates in England. Our vision is safe, effective and kind nursing and midwifery practice that improves everyone’s health and wellbeing.
We want to hear the voices and experiences of people who use health and care services and their experience of care provided by nursing and midwifery professionals.
