Community Service & Supervised Activity Order Work Placements

4 SEUPB Research to inform PEACEPLUS

The Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) with Changing Perspectives Consulting (CPC) is conducting research to identify a wide range of interest groups that have not yet availed of funding from SEUPB Peace Funding in the past.

This research will inform the development of the “Peace Plus” programme which will become active in mid-2021. By identifying the groups that have not yet availed of SEUPB funding and the reasons why, the SEUPB hope to put in place capacity building supports to help those groups have access to funds.

We hope that ANY group or organization that identifies as local, regional, national and international groups who HAVE NOT yet but might have interest in availing of SEUPB FUNDING through the new 2021 Peace plus funds, will fill out this simple 10-15 minute survey via an online google form: https://forms.gle/LfQJ22ij6BZKmdPo6

Groups not availing of SEUPB funding in the past will be identified on a list of groups/organisations which will be provided to SEUPB. Eligible projects will involve participants from Northern Ireland and the 6 adjacent border counties of Ireland.

The research is trying to identify and expand the range of interests related to Good Relations work. Please feel free to pass along this link to any groups or organisations whom may be interested in this survey and future EU Peace funding.

The deadline to complete the survey is February 7, 2020.

For any questions please contact, Martina Paloheimo via email at: Changingperspectivesconsulting@gmail.com

8 Economics for Ordinary People

Trusting in our ability to learn together,to discuss and share opinions.

Inspired by the Manchester Economics students who started Post Crash Economics courses in community centres enabling ordinary people to become citizen economists, a group of NW folk have started educating ourselves about the policy decisions that are made in the interests of 'the economy'. Why is 'the economy' spoken of as an entity separate from the issues concerning most of us? Why does Economics seem difficult? How many economic perspectives are there? How are economists trained? These are some of the questions we are exploring in a Mon pm Economics Reading Group in Central Library and in monthly Mon afternoon sessions taught by former Academic Economist Tony Weekes in St Columb's Park House. The group will also meet in SCPH a week or two before each of Tony's sessions to share preparation reading.

All sessions are free.
