Co-operation Ireland has been appointed by the Department for Communities (DfC) as the Intermediary Funding Body for the 2021/22 Small Capital Grants Programme for Northern Ireland. The purpose of this fund is to promote Partnership and Collaboration within the voluntary and Community sector.
Applications must include a minimum of 2 organisations. Those applying must nominate a lead partner to whom the whole of the grant will be paid. The Lead Partner should complete the application form.
The amount of grant available will be dependent on the number of partners within the application:
2 partner groups = can apply for up to £1,500
3 – 4 partner groups = can apply for up to £3,500
5+ partner groups = can apply for up to maximum £5,000
To be eligible for grant assistance (grants between £1,500 – £5,000), applicants must be constituted voluntary or community sector organisations located in Northern Ireland, with an annual unrestricted income of less than £100,000 per year. (“Unrestricted” income relates to funds that the non-profit organisation may use for any purpose. “Restricted” income relates to funds whose use is restricted by a particular purpose and must be used in a specified period e.g. grant offer from a Funding Body).
Applicant groups need to have been established for at least one year and submit annual accounts with application form
Applicants must deliver the project, pay supplier(s) and submit a grant claim by 31st March 2022.
IFA Inclusive Clubs Programme - The Irish Football Association (IFA) and the Community Foundation are delighted to open a new round of the Inclusive Clubs Programme. This Programme is aimed at supporting disability and women’s / girls’ football.

The Pressure Group Fund - Applications are invited for projects that can demonstrate how they are trying to address social injustice and what the impact of their work will be. In particular how they will encourage civic action, working with groups and individuals to get their voices heard by decision-makers. Ongoing - No Deadline
The Telecommunity Fund - The Telecommunity Fund was established with capital from BT, management and unions. It exists to support small, locally based grass roots community projects.

Micro Community Investment Fund - The Micro Community Investment Fund has been launched with support from Bank of Ireland UK, in recognition and celebration of the contribution of voluntary groups and people to our society and the need for a simple application process for small amounts of funding.

3 Nationwide Building Society Community Grants Opens for 2021 Applications
Nationwide Building Society is offering grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 for projects of either one year or two years. Projects should target one of Nationwide's three outcomes:
• Preventing people from losing their home.
• Helping people in a home.
• Supporting people to thrive within the home environment.
The funding will support core costs (up to 20% of the grant amount requested); staff and volunteer costs; small-scale capital costs; activity costs; development and capacity building costs ; and building works and refurbishment costs.
Nationwide has made two changes to its 2021 programme:
• Charities should have been running for at least three years and have a £25,000 minimum average income over three years.
• There is now a cap on the number of applications per region. This has been introduced in order to manage volumes and to preserve a success rate of approximately one in four (25% of those who apply within each region will receive funding). The cap means the date on which applications close in different regions may be earlier than 17 June 2021.
Applications will be accepted from 17 May to midnight on 17 June 2021

As lockdown measures have started to ease the Fundraising Regulator (FR) and Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIoF) have published new guidance on fundraising for this developing environment. The guidance provides a framework to assist good decision making and ensure responsible fundraising.
The new guidance states that it is up to individual charities to decide on the appropriateness of fundraising at this time, and urges them to be transparent with the public and others by documenting their decisions, undertaking risk assessments and being prepared to explain these if necessary.
Sufficient measures must be in place to protect the public, fundraisers, staff and volunteers. They should also take into account the needs of people in vulnerable circumstances or with protected characteristics.
The guidance also states that fundraisers must also comply with local public health guidance.
7Review of the Derry City & Strabane Strategic Growth Plan (Community Plan)
You may recall that we wrote to you previously inviting you to complete a stakeholder questionnaire as part of the review of the Strategic Growth Plan which is currently underway.

Please join us for our first ever online Parkinson's research event for the community in Northern Ireland!
You'll hear from Dr David Dexter, Parkinson's UK's Associate Director of Research, about where we're at currently with Parkinson's research, exciting research to look out for, and where you can find more information and opportunities to get involved.
You’ll also hear from Dr. Ian Harrison, whose work focuses on the recently discovered brain wide pathway, the glymphatic system and its ability to clear toxins from the brain.
Dr. Aoife Sweeney will also be speaking about her work in finding new ways to assess cognitive functions for people with Parkinson's. Aoife is based locally at the School of Medicine at Queens University Belfast
There will be a chance to discuss the proposed development of a Research Interest Group (RIG) for Northern Ireland, and plenty of time for audience Q&A.
