2 Community Relations / Cultural Diversity Grants Scheme

Deadline date: 13 December 2019

CR/CD GRANTS SCHEME IS NOW OPEN with a new online application system.

  • All projects in receipt of CRCD funding must be completed within this financial year
  • Grants up to £10K maximum for project costs only. (Average grant is £2 - £5K)
Aim of the Scheme
The Community Relations Council, with the support of Government, has established a fund of approximately £400,000 to spend each year on community relations projects. This funding is intended to help community/voluntary groups throughout Northern Ireland develop their capacity to engage in community relations work and to enhance the community relations potential of projects they undertake.

There are a number of changes to the 2019/20 Scheme which includes a new online application process.

 Pears Community Spaces Fund

Together with Pears Foundation the Community Spaces Fund will work to develop greater respect and understanding between people of different backgrounds. More than a fund this investment will encourage joint working and cohesion through more targeted approaches by staff at the Foundation, encouraging and supporting joint bidding for funding and through organised cluster events. 

What impact we expect from this programme/ fund:​

  • A stronger community sector equipped to face today's challenges
  • A more confident and vocal community sector
  • Safer, stronger, confident individuals and communities thriving after the conflict
  • A safer NI for those most marginalised and vulnerable

Small grants of up to £5,000 where community and voluntary groups are able to demonstrate a partnership approach that evidences need and joint working.​

The grant could be for using a shared space in their local community or to carry out joint activities or events aimed at bringing different communities together, whether that be communities of faith, ethnicity, neighbourhood or of different backgrounds.

The fund will close for applications on Tuesday 2nd July 2019 at 1:00pm.​

4 Equipment and Minor Refurbishment Programme

The Arts Council has designed this programme to enable organisations to purchase equipment and/or carry out minor refurbishment to their premises which will enhance their artistic services.

We want to support activities which benefit the people of Northern Ireland or that help arts organisations in Northern Ireland carry out their work. Particular priority will be given to equipment and minor refurbishment which

  • improves the accessibility of the arts;
  • improves the direct delivery of arts provision;
  • enhances or broadens the audience/participants’ experience of arts programming; or
  • raises the quality of the artistic work produced.
Who can apply?
The Arts Council welcomes applications from the widest possible range of organisations and in particular from applicants whose projects benefit individuals categorised under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.

You MUST apply online. We will not accept applications in hard copy, by email or by fax.

5 Consultation on the Housing Executive draft Chronic Homelessness Action Plan

On Wednesday 27th February 2019 the Board of the Housing Executive approved the draft Chronic Homelessness Action Plan. It is now undertaking a 12 week external consultation exercise to seek feedback on the strategic direction the organisation has set out in the document.

As part of the consultation process there will be three consultation events:

Philip Cloete’s father, Gerald, a part-time member of the UDR, was shot dead by members of the Provisional IRA on his way to his other place of work, Du Pont, on April 6th 1977.

8 Parent/Teen Communication Workshop Level 2

The Course
This 2-day workshop will be beneficial for those wanting to develop skills in the area of Parent/Teen Communication.
 
Topics include:

  • Teenage development
  • Practical ways to enhance communication between parents and teens.
  • Rights and needs of parents & teenagers.
  • The impact of positive parenting on self-esteem in teenagers.
  • Puberty and sexual health.

This course has been accredited by the Open College Network Northern Ireland at Level 2. It has the value of 2 credits.

Main Function
The Health Forum General Manager will oversee the strategic development of the Health Forum and its projects including planning, development, delivery and monitoring of the work of Health Forum. Key tasks will be to develop inter-sectoral partnership working with the Health Forum’s projects, to co-ordinate delivery of joint programmes and services involving project staff, volunteers, community groups and statutory health workers, and to develop the Health Forum as an accredited training and social economy organisation.  The General Manager will report directly to the BBHF Board of Directors Co-Chairs.

Qualification
Candidates must have a relevant degree or equivalent level qualification.  (A relevant degree or equivalent qualification can include but is not exclusive to social sciences, education, business, youth and community)

Under PEACE IV small grants scheme Churches Trust will be undertaking a community education programme and inter-church project, the aim of which is to bring together participants from various faith traditions and none, who will together explore our common Christian heritage and in particular explore Columba/ St Cholmcille and the associated relevance and heritage for this area.

Perinatal Mental Health: Supporting all parents for better outcomes

  • Perinatal Mental Health occurs during pregnancy or in the first year following the birth of a child.
  • 1:10 women in NI develop a mental illness during pregnancy or the first year following the birth of their baby.
  •  80% of women and their families in Northern Ireland cannot access specialist Perinatal Mental Health services as there is only one specialist unit  in Ireland.

Refreshments will be provided and the chance to learn and discuss this issue further, as well as other areas concerning public health.

18 Command Lines – Candida Powell-Williams at Void Gallery

Exhibition runs 25th June – 24th August 2019

Command Lines is a theatrical installation of sculpture, performance and animation by artist Candida Powell-Williams. The works re-imagine the iconic tarot as a three-dimensional experiment in symbolism, action, story-telling and magical thinking. Powell-William’s installation uses the term Command Lines to frame the exhibition, insinuating systems, networks and feedback loops, control over and order of information. Her work builds on the play between performance, technology and sculptures that act as props to her fantastical stage setting calling into questions structures of reality.

Powell-William’s work is a response to researching the slippage that occurs between primary and secondary source material in relation to historical Artefacts. By discarding the original source and reimagining objects as a product of their interpretation she explores the consequences of retelling history and how we construct identity through objects and memory. She manipulates historical narratives, plucking references from disparate eras, folding them into the present and condensing them into a singular experience.
