The Ireland Funds is proud to announce the launch of the Heart of the Community Fund. This will provide critical and timely funding to a wide range of not-for-profit organizations across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
We aim to support organisations who are responding to the ongoing and immediate needs created by COVID-19 and whose day-to-day operations continue to be directly impacted by COVID-19. Funding will support those organisations who continue to adapt their work to respond to the changing needs of their beneficiaries.
The Heart of the Community Fund offers awards up to €5,000 for small, not-for-profits and community organisations with an annual turnover of less than €/£500,000.
Awards will be offered in the following 2 tiers:

€5,000
*Please note that organisations may only apply for one tier of funding. We anticipate that a large number of applications will be submitted so please carefully consider which tier is the appropriate level for your proposed application.
The Heart of the Community Fund will accept applications online from Thursday, March 18 until 3:00pm GMT on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
Now open to all UK registered and unregistered charities and local community groups needing financial assistance due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Requests can be made for £100 - £1000. 500 applications will be granted (at random) each month. If your application is unsuccessful one month, they’ll keep you in the draw, which will roll over to the following month.
Applicants will be randomly selected at the start of each month to receive funding. Entries must be received by 11.59pm on the last day of each month to be considered for that month. Applications received after the closing date of the 31st May 2021 will not be eligible and will not be processed or considered.
The VSB Foundation are pleased to launch the 2021 Good Governance Awards for Northern Ireland. Delivered in partnership with CO3 and Volunteer Now.
The Good Governance Awards will showcase how good governance and driving social change are essentially interlinked and will provide an opportunity to celebrate what is best in the sector.
This is your opportunity to raise the profile of your board and be awarded £1000 to further invest into your governance development. Each nomination received also receives two complimentary places for their Trustees on the CO3 Trustee Network.
Unlike previous years, the Good Governance Awards will take place virtually.
If you think your organisation has great governance in place you can apply for the 2021 Leadership and Good Governance Awards. There will be three awards this year, one for smaller organisations with an income of under £500,000, one for medium-sized organisations with an income of £501,000 - £999,999 and one for larger organisations with an income of over £1m.
All three winning organisations will receive £1,000. Each nomination received also receives two complimentary places for their Trustees on the CO3 Trustee Network.
The closing date for nominations is Noon, Friday 16 April 2021. Nominate Now.

Who fit within the definition of an organisation working within the Third Sector i.e. Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise organisations
The nomination process is for the whole board and not for one particular individual as good governance is a collective responsibility

6Pre-consultation for suicide and post-vention services
In September 2019, the Department of Health published a new suicide prevention strategy for Northern Ireland known as Protect Life 2. The strategy includes specific actions which the PHA is responsible for delivering, and the agency is now undertaking a pre-consultation on these suicide prevention and post-vention services.
The PHA want to actively engage with stakeholders to support the development of future services by taking the views of services users and carers, local communities and providers into account.
There are a number of ways to get involved. You can participate in an engagement event or complete an online survey. This survey will be available for 8 weeks from 15th February 2021 until 11th April 2021.

7 Feminist Recovery Plan Webinar Series: Climate Crisis as a Feminist Issue
Thursday, 1 April 2021, 10:00 – 11:00am
This is the final event in webinar series following the launch of the Women’s Policy Group COVID-19 Feminist Recovery Plan, so come and join us in this special crossover event in collaboration with Covid Conversations and Friends of the Earth.
As the climate emergency continues to make the headlines around the world, we will look at its impact here in Northern Ireland, and examine it as both a human rights and particularly as a feminist issue.
This event will look at the concept of a Feminist Green Economy, including the need to broaden definitions of ‘green jobs’ beyond construction and technology to incorporate the care sector as an already existing low carbon, high compense sector that is increasingly neglected.
Current Climate Change Legislation making its way through the Northern Ireland Assembly will also be explored, and what it needs to include to respect, protect and fulfill people's rights. The final area we will examine is extractionism in Northern Ireland, how it's linked to the climate, the impact it has on local communities here and why it should be viewed as an eco-feminist issue.

Due to a fantastic, funded initiative (supported by the Public Health Agency) your organisation may be able to avail of a free Workplace Health & Wellbeing support.
The aim of the initiative is to mentor and support businesses through a structured four stage process to improve the health, safety and well-being of their employees within the workplace setting.
This is currently year 5 and the programme has been a resounding success with over 950 business in Northern Ireland having availed with huge benefits to employee health being realised. Businesses range from large multinationals to small micro businesses.
Registration is now open for new workplaces, for a limited time only and best of all it is completely funded by the Public Health Agency.

A comprehensive and informative report outlining the health of employees;
Health Champions training for a nominated individuals who will implement and lead the workplace strategy internally;

BUPA – Me Time Programme (All Carers aged 65+): Free 12- week programme is open to all carers aged 65+ looking after a loved one with any long- term illness or condition. DEEDS (Dementia Specific Courses for Carers All Ages)
Carers Education programme: FREE 4-week Course on ZOOM for those looking after someone with dementia. If you care for someone with Dementia and would you like to know more about Dementia and meet other families in a safe environment? Starting Thursday 22nd April at 11am on ZOOM.
Carers Connect: This Free 8-week programme is for carers caring for someone with early-stage dementia or who are still able to engage well in activities. It is taught on Zoom and is bespoke to the carer and loved one they are caring for. Carers learn why activities and a schedule is important for those with dementia and are taught activities for their loved ones. Carers are supplied with resources for the course and a tablet and Wi-Fi support on loan is included. The programme timetable is set via the Support Workers with the carer around the carers’ availability. Programme is due to start the week beginning 3rd May. Jenni's 16th birthday is coming up, and her new boyfriend Jamie will be there. He is so nice. He is interested in everything she does. He always wants to know where she is and what she is doing. He texts her all the time and follows her every move on Facebook. But things start to take a turn, and Jenni isn't so sure anymore.
The play follows the ups and downs of a young woman's relationship as it goes from being near perfect to becoming an impossible nightmare. The production explores the issue of abusive relationships among young people. It was developed in consultation with Foyle Women’s Aid, NSPCC and Youth Action NI. The performance is followed by a Q+A with representatives of organisations working to stop domestic violence against women and children.

The Waypoint Project is a peer mentoring programme at Youthlife, supported by BBC Children in Need, offering support for children and young people aged 5-18 years who have experienced bereavement, family breakdown, separation or loss.
Youthlife is seeking a Project Co-ordinator to:
Enable and empower young people to effectively contribute to and shape the Waypoint Project. The project is ‘young person lead’ and will always be directly informed by the lived experiences of children and young people with maximum impact and reach. This will include recruiting, training and supporting a diverse group of Peer Mentors who will participate in Youthife service delivery, support counselling services and provide a next step, while promoting the project and contributing to training other young people in the community as Peer Mentors
Develop our existing partnerships with statutory agencies and voluntary/ community sector providers to help ensure that children and young people affected by bereavement and loss get the right support from the right person at the right time.
Applicants will be qualified to degree level in Youth Work, Social Work, Counselling/Psychotherapy or Teaching and will have three years paid employment in the past five years in one or more of those professions
The post is funded for three years and is 20 hours per week.
