COVID Impact & Community Support Survey Results - Dec 2020

Many thanks to all of you who completed our COVID impact and community support survey.  Here’s a summary of what you told us:

Work Environment – Staff & Team

When asked if you and your staff team are working from home or in a socially-distanced environment many of you indicated that some of your staff are working from home and some in a socially-distanced environment:

  • 56% of you told us some staff were working from home
  • 59% of you told us some staff were working in a socially-distanced work environment

Impact

In what ways has the COVID pandemic impacted your organisation and your work?

  • 40% of you told us that staff or family members and been ill with Coronavirus
  • 68% of you told us that services/activities have been stopped
  • 47% of you told us that staff had been made redundant
  • 3% of you told us that staff have been furloughed
  • 22% of you told us that volunteers have been unavailable
  • 53% of you told us that you have lost income
  • 25% of you told us that you had lost funding

Other ways in which you have been impacted –

  • Difficult to retain and motivate board members, fundraisers, staff, volunteers and civic interest whilst using social media platforms e.g. Zoom
  • Delivering services online makes it more difficult to reach those who it is already hard to engage with
  • Social isolation, increased stress, anxiety and pressure for staff in the current situation, whilst they are trying to support vulnerable people
  • Lack of strategic government planning leads to uncertainty for staff
  • Unable to deliver our usual events and meet targets in the usual way

  • 67% of you told us we could support you through sourcing alternative funding
  • 40% of you told us you would be interested in specific training e.g. social media, governance, measuring impact etc
  • 40% said you would be interested in alternative fundraising ideas
  • 37% of you indicated that you would be interested in help with strategic direction/planning for your organisation
  • 27% indicated help required with charity commission regulations/reporting
  • 50% of you indicated you would be interested in more opportunities to come together (safely) with groups facing similar challenges to network/support/collaborate
